The River-ward

A sign of recognition at the crossing

STORY CODEX1 min read
A COMPANION TO BONDS

This entry follows the subject as it appears in BONDS.

The river-ward is a flat gray river-stone carried on a short cord. A single ash-work line is sealed into its surface. Brask gives the token to Sylas at Roaringwater so people who honor the old crossing signs can recognize his party as vouched for.[1]

In BONDS[1]

Protection through people

Lirael calls it an old anchor claim and states that it carries no force of its own. Its usefulness depends on people recognizing and honoring it. Enemies may also notice the mark, so accepting it makes the company’s position more visible.
