A COMPANION TO BONDS

Myth Celador is a fallen elven city whose surviving structures remain bound to powerful, damaged ley workings. Its name carries the weight of a past that has not become harmless simply because the city fell. The novel approaches that past through records, warnings, and the experience of people who know more than they initially reveal.[1]

Reading the surviving city

Records, old channels, and damaged wards preserve different layers of Myth Celador’s history. The companions have to distinguish the original work from later alterations before they can judge what remains dangerous.

The city’s fall[2]

A surviving record shows Vaeril Myrthadar attempting to gather the city’s failing ley lines through himself. The temporary stabilization fails catastrophically. His will, grief, and refusal to release the city become bound into the Shattered Nexus. The Shroud later exploits that surviving wound and builds a wider network around it.

A limited release[2]

The companions disable Shroud additions and eventually release Vaeril’s burden through older receiving channels. His death ends the local imposed pattern. Myth Celador remains a vast ruin, and both its nexus and the Veil remain damaged; the absence of his cadence marks a real but limited change.
