The Edgewood lies on the Onyx route beyond Xer’Arun, before Arrow Falls. Its thick canopy, wet roots, and narrow paths make travel demanding. Below that growth, old drainage works and road anchors have become part of the forest’s living system.[1]

Reading a living system

The forest has incorporated engineered structures over generations. Its roots follow old channels and curve around worked stone, so changes to the buried road can also affect the life above it.

One knot loosened[1]

The Shroud cuts new patterns into places where the ley passes through the root-web. Lirael and Selyna loosen a corrupted loop without destroying the old anchor. A silent watcher then allows the company passage; the text leaves that being’s identity and reasoning unexplained.
