A fulcrum is a load-point: a person or place through which pressure can be carried while a larger pattern changes. In BONDS, the term belongs to the practical language of old workings and Elowen’s observations. It raises questions about how a burden is shared and who agrees to bear it.[1]

A willing point, a forced anchor[1]

The old Gate instructions call for a willing point to carry weight until a wound can be gentled. The distant presence instead seeks a fixed anchor through which to pull. Sylas recognizes that distinction. Vaeril calls Sylas a fulcrum while trying to make him accept the same solitary burden that trapped the king.

Elowen’s warning[1]

Sylas remembers Elowen writing about people and places where too much pressure gathers. Her lesson is that such points should not be left alone with the weight. The company’s shared release makes that principle concrete.
