Sister Serelle keeps Branloch’s shrine and its remembrance ledger. The book holds the names of the dead and of missing people awaiting return or proper burial. Her work becomes more difficult as written names fade and townspeople struggle to remember those they have lost.[1]

Appearance and bearing[1]

Serelle wears simple robes and keeps her hair tightly braided behind her head. Her clear, steady gaze belongs to someone accustomed to receiving difficult news. In the small shrine, she rises before the visitors have fully entered; her composure remains deliberate even when the conversation presses on the town’s grief.

The limits of testimony[1]

Serelle distinguishes what she remembers from what she cannot honestly supply. Asked about an old visit, she gives the impression the conversation left on her but refuses to invent its words or a destination she did not hear. She handles the ledger carefully and offers acknowledgment without turning an uncertain answer into reassurance.

Story & history[1]

Keeping the names

Serelle describes a danger that leaves absences rather than damage a town can easily count. She maintains the record instead of allowing missing people to disappear from communal memory.

Elowen’s name in the record[1]

An older section of the ledger records Elowen Blackthorn asking about the old warnings. Serelle remembers the visit from childhood but refuses to claim more than she knows. She sends Sylas to Deran, who saw Elowen after her return from the hills.
