A COMPANION TO BONDS
This entry follows the subject as it appears in BONDS.
Dwarves are part of Sylas’s life from the opening of BONDS. Durnhollow’s laborers and smiths know him, and Torin Stonefist raised him with the standards of a working forge. Beyond the stronghold, Thorek Deepvein brings the practical experience of a prospector and mine owner to the story.[1]

Work and responsibility
The novel introduces dwarven life through people doing necessary work: making tools, judging metal, maintaining equipment, and questioning careless plans. Torin’s affection and criticism are both shaped by what he expects Sylas to be capable of.
