This chronology fixes institutional order and causal relationship. It does not assign unsupported MR dates. After Dawn remains a separate Sentinel reckoning, and Year 311 After Dawn must never be read automatically as 311 MR.
1. Founding of the Circle of the Sign
After the ordered age of the Eleven is established, Aruvond witnesses the First Investiture. Thirteen Banners are founded at Concordis, including the central Crown Banner.
2. Corruption of the Crown
The Crown bearer turns coordination into domination. The remaining Banners oppose the thirteenth seat.
3. Breaking of the Crown
The Crown Banner is abolished, its lawful name erased, its seat and statue destroyed, and the Circle continues as Twelve around a deliberate absence.
4. The Golden Concord
The Twelve Banners operate as a distributed order without restoring centralized Crown command. This becomes the Circle’s principal lawful period after the Breaking.
5. The Fracturing
A later catastrophe destroys the Circle’s unity. Concordis is lost, sealed, ruined, or removed from ordinary access; relics and Banner traditions scatter.
6. Founding of the Sentinels of the Dawn
Aurelian Kaerath, an oath-heir of Kaelrus’s Ember tradition, gathers a new mortal guardian order. The Dawn does not recreate the Zodiac Knights; it preserves warnings, relics, ley stewardship, and the cross-people obligation to stand beyond one crown.
7. Dawnwatch and the Forward Watches
Dawnwatch Hold becomes the hidden central stronghold above older Zodiac architecture. A wider network of Forward Watches provides field presence across Eldarûn.
8. The Night Concordat campaign
A hidden coalition isolates the Sentinels politically, destroys or compromises Forward Watches, attacks supply and trust, steals or corrupts lesser relics, and gradually breaks the order’s ability to operate openly.
9. Sealing of Dawnwatch Hold
With the field network collapsing, Dawnwatch is concealed and sealed. Archives, Zodiac warnings, relics, and the memory of the order survive even as the Dawn disappears from active history.
10. Long silence
The Sentinels of the Dawn pass into fragmented memory. Dawnwatch remains hidden. Zodiac and Sentinel remnants persist in ruins, records, and sealed chambers.
11. Rediscovery in the present narrative era
Sylas Blackthorn and his companions reach and reclaim Dawnwatch Hold during the current crisis sequence. They encounter the practical burden left by the fallen order before fully understanding its depth.
12. The Shroud crisis and formal rise of the Flame
After the companions confront the Shroud of Mourning’s major operations and the old wounds around Myth Celador, the abandoned watch becomes a chosen responsibility rather than merely a discovered ruin.
13. The Sentinels of Flame
The modern order arises from choice, not divine appointment or unbroken succession. Dawnwatch becomes its seat, while recognition, recruitment, field doctrine, and political legitimacy remain works in progress.
14. Post-Shroud continuation
The Umbral Covenant reorganizes surviving Shroud structures under Draaven Voss. The Redmark crisis becomes one of the young Sentinels’ first major tests as an institution rather than only a companion band.
